Notable Industry Leadership Honored with ASAE’s Women Who Advance Excellence in Associations Awards WASHINGTON—The Greater Washington Network will present Christine W. McEntee, MHA, Executive Director, American Geophysical Union; Jill Martineau Cornish, IOM, Executive Editor, Association TRENDS; and Debra S. Ben Avram, CAE, Chief Executive Officer, American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, with the 2010 Women Who Advance Excellence in Associations Awards. The Women Who Advance Excellence in Associations Awards program recognizes women in the Greater Washington, DC region who have set the standard of excellence in their professional lives through leadership, mentoring and career advancement, and have made a significant impact on the local association community. The awards will be given November 10 at the In Honor of Women luncheon, an education, networking and award event designed to connect women with tools that will help them achieve influence, leadership and success. Christine W. McEntee, MHA, was recently named executive director of the American Geophysical Union. Most recently, she served as executive vice president and CEO of the American Institute of Architects. Previously, McEntee was CEO of the American College of Cardiology and its affiliated Foundation. She holds a bachelor's degree in nursing from Georgetown University and a master's degree in Health Administration from the George Washington University. She is also a graduate of the Advanced Executive Program at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and an ASAE Fellow. Jill Martineau Cornish, IOM, is co-founder of Association TRENDS and now serves as the publication's executive editor. Cornish oversees special projects and content in the publication, and provides consulting, insight and communication services to the association community. Previously she was director of communications and then CEO for nearly eight years of the National Association of Plastic Fabricators, a Washington-based building products association. Named the first woman board member of the Small Business Legislative Council, Cornish received a Reagan Administration Schedule C appointment with the Small Business Administration to create a plan to coordinate interaction between associations and government programs. Debra S. Ben Avram, CAE, is CEO of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, where she also served as Associate Executive Director. Previously, Ben Avram was director of programs for the American Occupational Therapy Foundation in Bethesda, MD and program coordinator at Miami University in Oxford, OH. She holds a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Miami University and Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from the University of Maryland. “McEntee, Cornish and Ben Avram are no strangers in the Washington, DC association and nonprofit circles and have contributed countless hours to support our community,” said ASAE President and CEO John H.
