Program Description

Are you pursuing the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation, and looking for something to rev up your study preparations? If so, this intensive study program is for you! This program is designed to reinforce and enhance your knowledge in the nine domains of successful association management, while making the most of your time. You leave with your study priorities clearly in mind. The sessions are taught by experienced, qualified domain leaders and guided by a skilled facilitator, all graduates of the CAE process.

We highly recommend you become familiar with the following books prior to the program.

  • Cox, John B., ed. Professional Practices in Association Management, Washington, DC: American Society of Association Executives, 2nd edition
  • Jacobs, Jerald A., Association Law Handbook, Washington, DC: American Society of Association Executives, 4th edition

To learn more about CAE certification contact Lori Frison, ASAE's Director of Credentialing, at lfrison@asaenet.org or 202-626-2824. Questions about the CAE Study Course should be directed to Mark Milroy at mmilroy@asaecenter.org.

The CAE Study Course is independent of the CAE certification program, which requires a separate application. The CAE program is governed by the CAE Commission, a semi-independent certifying body of the American Society of Association Executives. In adherence to best practices for certifying bodies, CAE Commission volunteers and CAE staff are not involved in the development of any preparatory program, and no preparatory program is endorsed by the CAE Commission nor is a prerequisite to earn the CAE. The CAE Commission and its staff is solely responsible for the policies and administration of the CAE program, including application deadlines and qualification requirements.
